From: Terry Pannkuk To: ROOTS Sent: Friday, May 21, 2010 11:13 AM Subject: [roots] 14 year CBCT recall Mesiolingual root (#14), #15 treated today I’m doing these long-term recall CBCT’s for free so I’m getting quite a few of them. Here’s one from this afternoon. The patient presented as an emergency (exposure, pulpitis, #15) It’s surprising how many separate mesiolingual roots I’ve seen in a row lately. These types of cases are very dangerous if access is poor; mesial wall extension is critical . I treated this patient in January, 1996. PA’s attached; patient in temps, crowns to be replaced. #15 had a similar MB2 which was closer to the palatal root than the MB1. I didn’t take a post-treatment CBCT because the patient was getting enough rads as and was tired from this being a single visit emergency. I tried to map the canals through the transverse sections after I completed the case in retrospect knowing where the canals were from the access and post-treatment radiographs: The CBCT didn’t help me treat #15 but it did present interesting information that explained what I was doing and if I get a chance, and the patient is willing/interested, I’ll get another one soon to see how it looks after treatment.
