Regular 4 canal molar

From: Abdul Parmar To: ROOTS Sent: Tuesday, September 23, 2008 12:47 AM Subject: [roots] Regular 4 canal molar Getting used to my scope now still struggling with lowers though. Also I find it difficult to tell how far a file has gone, for example, I have my working lengths determined and next I proceed with rotary files, I cant tell precisely how deep the file is without taking my eyes away to look directly?? what am I doing wrong? Anyways this is a case completed today tooth 26 with a nice meaty MB2 merged with MB1 at the apex. Comments appreciated of course.- abdul
Hi Abdul, Seeing the stops in the scope needs good mirror skills, particularly in lower molars, I try not to look away from the scope at all, angle the mirror and see the stops. A smaller mirror helps as well, 9mm or less. Leaves plenty space then for the instruments. Glad you are enjoying the scope, - Bill hi bill, I was trying to use the markings on the file and although i knew i shouldnt look away I had to be able to make sure i didnt wreck the apex. I got some small front faced mirrors from d2d but i think they are still 15mm. - abdul for mirrors look at eie2.com, the flexible ones are great for this, plus a superb ruler on the handle to measure under the scope without glare. I hardly ever look at stops / lines on the file directly, it's all in the mirror, If you need to peek away then fine, but personally I prefer to be in the scope as much as possible, although I know others who do a lot of peeking around it - Bill
