Subject: [roots] Crack or missed canal ?
A RCT on tooth #33 I did about 6 months ago. Now became sensitive to percussion tapping in a distal point.
Couldn’t see nothing on x-ray. As his #37 that I treated at the same time is also sensitive to percussion
I did a CbCT of both teeth. Can you please tell me what is it that I see in tooth #33 a L canal that
I missed or a crack ? I don't have a scope at that practice - Thomas
Number 1...I would be looking for a second canal.
Number 2 ....Cracks don't show up on x rays....unless you get the right angle
Number 3 ... Get a microscope....you've got CbCT... Molar Del Sud
Thanks for the answer,
But you must be joking, I don't have a cbCT and I will never have L (the economics in Israel make root
canals non profitable – that's why we are #1 in the world in the number of implants). I sent him to a
centre to have the scan done. I got the results on a cd and that's how I checked them. Cracks do show
on cbCT, this is not a 2D x-ray. I have shown just the right angle to see the big void that is directly
behind the main canal. I am thinking:
1. Somehow this is a portion of main canal I didn't clean&shape
2. A second L canal
3. Crack/Fracture
Wanted to hear someone that has some experience with CT's as I don’t have almost any.
I have a scope in the Haifa office, no way this guy will ever buy one L But I can continue dreaming - Thomas
I don't understand why people are buying these things...I still like microscope and light...
I could be corrected very shortly - Molar Del Sud
To do more implants of course... And on the sideways it's a great endo diagnostic tool - Thomas
