Subject: [roots] Sad outcome after trauma
I saw this 14 year old boy a few days ago. He got an accident a year ago, 4 lower incisors and an upper central incisor
were avulsed. He was brought to the emergency room, without teeth.
People that witnessed the accident started looking for his teeth, they found 3 lowers incisors, the other 2 were untraceable.
They put the teeth in milk, and delivered them at the ER. The staff said they couldn't be replanted, and after pouring out
the milk, they handed the teeth over to the parents, dry........A few hours later, they found an oral surgeon that was
willing to replant the teeth. No further treatment was recommended. His family dentist did a rct in one of the teeth after
he developed complaints.
I am planning on retreating 33, long-term CaOH in all 3 teeth, followed by MTA and composite. The condition of 42 seems
to be hopeless. Any suggestions?
This is heartbreaking, why are ER staff and dentists so poorly informed on dental trauma? Send your referring doctors,
colleagues, class mates and everybody else that might be involved this link: www.dentaltraumaguide.org A great tool!!
