There was a crack (between the 2 blue arrows) and the patient reported pain when chewing hard food. Pain could be provoked upon release of pressure. No more symptoms after treatment. 2 years later, the tooth reacts normally to cold testing, there is no pain and probing depths are between 2 and 3 mm. I don't see any obliteration of the pulp chamber that would have justified endo. In my opinion, there is no need for full coverage of these teeth if they are restored with adhesive composite restaurations that are reinforced with Ribbond or Everstick. Except the lacking radioopacity of the Ribbond, I like this treatment approach that saves as much natural tooth structure as possible. I restored all other teeth in that quadrant with composite as well in 2001(tetric ceram).
