Subject: [roots] Healing of a tooth beyond salvage
50 years old female with resorption of the root 12.
She did not want to extract the tooth.
First time I noticed it was in -86.
Already at that time the resorption was big and i did not know what
to do with it except extraction.
I have X-rays from -77 and -86 but not digital.
The last 4 years she has had an abcsess with fistula.
January last year I asked her very gentle to let me try to treat it with a
"very special material" and she let me do it because the tooth was not
so firm aa it has used to be.
Abcess and fistula gone after 1 day after filling with MTA.
So here is the result after 1 year. The tooth is firm today.

HI HARALD , GREAT POST ,
THAT IS WHY I CALL M.T.A. "MATERIAL THAT ACTS" - Gurpreet Singh
Nice. Dr. prestegaard, what did you do or use to prevent apical
extrusion of the mta? - Gary
I am not using anything. I just keep sure that I am not condensing it
longer apicaly than my working length.
I do that with paper points. In many cases you get some extrusion as in
this case, but that don`t seem to be a problem.- Harald
