Internal resorption case

Subject: [roots] Internal Resorption Case

Here’s the other resorption case I finished yesterday. There was a crack
through the distal marginal ridge. You often see resorption/calcification
complexes associated with deep restoration, previous pulp capping,
and crown-root fractures which probably initiate the dysplastic
transformation of the pulp cells. The CBCT was critical for determining
prognosis before planning treatment. I doubt he would have bothered
having the tooth treated and opted for extraction had the resorption
defect been shown to be an ECIR on the scan. - Terry
