3 Predictable Root Coverage: The Connective Tissue - Double Pedicle Graft Procedure. A case report.Authors : Dr. Huda M. Albather, Dr. Lee P. Johns, Dr. Jon B. Suzuki Introduction: Patients often present to our practices with complaints relating to gingival recession. Concerns commonly relate to root sensitivity, esthetics or continued progression of the recession defect. Plaque-induced inflammation and toothbrush trauma are implicated as the most common causes of gingival recession. It is more prevalent in populations that display a poor level of oral hygiene. Also, conversely, it has been observed in populations that display a high or perhaps excessive level of oral hygiene1 4 OCCLUSAL CONSIDERATION IN IMPLANT PROSTHODONTICS - abstract When addressing the subject of oral implantology, one must consider not only the surgical phase of placing the implant, but the entire treatment sequence, specifically the prosthodontic rehabilitative procedures. Proper knowledge and applications of sound prosthodontic principles in the selection, placement, and restorative phases, are pre-requisites for successful implant treatment. Predictability and long-term success (Branemark and Zarb, 1985) are based on several factors, which include proper selection of patient and implant, aseptic and atraumatic surgical procedures, adequate no-loading healing period, correct prosthodontic reconstruction, and proper follow-up care.

6 Educational Opportunities for Non U.S. Citizens in American Dental Schools Authors: Hashil Al-Syabi B.D.S., Deborah Studen-Pavlovich D.M.D., Terrance Morris, Ph.D. & James Sciote, D.D.S., M.S., Ph.D. Institution: Division of Pediatric & Developmental Dental Sciences, University of Pittsburgh, School of Dental Medicine Author to whom correspondence should be addressed: James J. Prerequisites for admission to dental school almost always requires the completion of a university four-year bachelor's degree, with some schools also requiring a significant amount of health science courses during the baccalaureate program. Postgraduate dental education programs include training in the American Dental Association's (ADA) specialties of dental public health, endodontics, oral pathology, oral and maxillofacial surgery, orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics, pediatric dentistry, periodontics and prosthodontics. Advanced training in general dentistry is available through a General Practice Residency (GPR) or an Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) program. GPR programs were developed in the early 1970's, usually in association with hospital settings to provide additional clinical training for dentists in the performance of increasingly complicated clinical procedures. AEGD programs developed in the early 1980's for similar reasons but are typically located in dental schools. The non-U.S. graduates may have some difficulty in being accepted to a GPR because of licensure requirements, but they can receive a similar experience through the university- based AEGD programs.

10 construction of splinted anterior crowns to support a cantilevered canine pontic.-abstract The prosthodontic treatment for a patient included the construction of splinted anterior crowns to support a cantilevered canine pontic. The pontic also served as a removable partial denture abutment, and although the splint included both central incisors, it maintained the patient's midline diastema. The occlusal analysis and the design of the removable partial denture which made using a cantilevered abutment seem feasible are discussed, along with the method for including both maxillary central incisors in a splint while maintaining a midline diastema
