Subject: [roots] Would you resect this completely or not?
This was a patient which I treated today. (The first part of the treatment)
The tooth was treated with an apex resection a few years ago, no orthograde
treatment was done. Retrofill with AA.
His current complaints were pulsing pain and moderate percussion sensitivity.
I decided to do an orthograde treatment.
I cleaned the canal, no fractures were present, MAF was +120. I obturated the
entire canal with glass ionomer cement until the AA plug.
The second part will be a new apex resection with removal of the AA.
My question now is:
Is it better to do a complete resection to the level of the Glassionomer, or
would you try to remove the AA plug and place a new plug with a more biocompatibel
material without resecting the apical part of the root (or at least not alot)?
