Subject: [roots] sealer extrusion
I did this case yesterday (vital endo of mandibular second molar). After cleaning & shaping, the drain test was
telling me that all 3 canals were communicating. Obturated warm vertical (System B). The amount of extruded sealer
was higher than I like it to be. Moreover, the proximity of the mandibular canal was worrying me.
Told him to call me when having odd sensation/ no sensation in lower lip. Moreover: he is a doctor!
Phoned him today: he is taking analgesics for postoperative pain, lip is perfect!
Any of you had similar or worse experience with sealer/medicaments close to mandibular canal? Was I too worried?
I appreciate your comments - Maarten Meire,Belgium
Hello Maarten , nice result u have achived , and i think imho if u dont file the ian canal the patient wont
"file" u , and a sealer extrusion is not much of woorry as even in cases of paraesthesia that is also only of
transient nature and reverses soon, best of luck , and nice case once again - Gurpreet
Thank you Gurpreet, a lot of practitioners here on roots care much less about (massive) sealer extrusion than I do,
but maybe I was too worried - Maarten.
Maarten, this is really not a large amount of sealer considering what I see in my System A cases or Mark Dryer's
squirt cases, which are beautiful...usually. :-) - Guy
