Subject: [roots] Rare Surgery - Only Case
This MB root was hacked up so bad with a separated instrument around a curve that I decided to get a CBCT
and evaluate whether I really needed to retreat the DB and P first or not. I decided not to figuring I could
always do it later if I was wrong. There wasn't much to be gained attempting to retreat the MB conventionally
since it had a history of MTA obturation (didn't look like a good decision to go through it), so I performed a
rare case of "Surg First". I think the CBCT definitely helped determine a clinical decision that would have
been different without it in this case. Like the European Guidelines, I think we owe it to our patients to be
discriminating and make sure the CBCT is likely to have value before prescribing it - Terry
