Subject: [roots] Another Thermafilth Result
Here’s another referred case I got the other day highlighting, if it looks good on the xray and
is failing it must be another Thermafilth. The second molar will be addressed before considering
extraction of #1. #1 was treated a couple years ago. Who thinks #1 is ok and that the lesion around
it will heal once #2 is treated?
Questions:
1. Why was a wisdom tooth treated, any strategic value (it has Class 2 mobility)?
2. Do you think the correct tooth was initially treated?
3. How much time do you think was spent cleaning and shaping before stuffing in the Thermafilth?
4. How much irrigation occurred and how efficient was it through that shipwreck in a bottle
biomimetic access prep?
I attached the images and a CBCT video capture scan for your ironic amusement. - Terry
Now I remember why I began reading and posting to ROOTS again; so that I can feel totally inadequate
in RCT therapy;>) All kidding aside, I am in awe of what most of my colleagues on here can do
with endodontic therapy.
Thanks for the post and I’ve realized we have reached a whole new level of what is standard of care
with the addition of CBCT imaging - J. Terry Frey
CBCT shows things beautifully.
As for Thermafill - i think it is the "it is not the arrows but the indian" issue - Vitali
It's all of the above, crappy arrows, shot by the crappy archer, sold to him by the crappy vendor
who's modern day market plan is to create a product which looks good, sounds good, feels good,
but isn't good.
The market is focused upon obturation products with increased radiopacity which hide voids and
don't seal failing to prevent gross leakage, and file systems which rush to a nice looking shape
without cleaning complex anatomy.
Market and clinical integrity is vanishing and the lemmings are jumping off the cliff led by the
pied pipers of professional and scientific pollution - Terry
