yellowish discoloration on tooth 11

From: Maarten Meire To: ROOTS Sent: Monday, November 17, 2008 9:20 PM Subject: [roots] question This lady has a yellowish discoloration on tooth 11 since about 6 months, which bothers her. She is free of symptoms. All front teeth respond to cold testing. X ray shows partial obliteration of the canal on 11. Sound periapex. Sound tooth. What treatment do you suggest? Will bleaching correct this kind of discoloration? Would that be internal or external bleaching? Or do we have to work with facings? Suggestions are very welcome! The central oval radiolucent structure on the xray has to be the foramen incisivum. It looks rather big though... Is this pathologic? - Maarten

pulp chamber & canal seem smaller in 1.1 (#8) than in 2.1 (#9) history of trauma? Maarten, my opinion is that external bleaching will not do much here since it is an internal (dentin) discoloration - Marcos Arenal I recommend an external home-bleaching procedure. Make an upper bleaching tray and show the patient how to apply 10% Carbamide Peroxide bleaching gel selectively to this tooth only in the tray. Wear nightly for up to 4 weeks or sooner if the colour match is acceptable. This can be a very good technique! - Stephen Abrasive strip - Guy Dear Michiel, Do you suggest that I use a contraster for my pics, or that i do the RCT + internal bleaching or both? - Maarten
