Now after ortho she wanted an aesthetic improvement. We started today with the extraction - immediate implant placement - temporizing. - Liviu

Liviu, What diameter is this implant? - DanS 3mm width (Biohorizons btw.) - Liviu Thanks for sharing as always Liviu - now the rest of you......... let's see some Astra Tech, some Ankylos, 3i, et al...........Kendo I’ve used the biohorizons myself for immediate placement in laterals and lower incisors. They work nicely.- Gary
Yes, but there is room here for a wider implant, is there not? - DanS I don't think so. the width of a mandibular incisor is greatest at the incisal, narrowest at the cervical. to achieve proper emergence profile, 3mm is about all i could place here. wider imho would have created emergence profile issues and not left an adequate diameter of bone between implant and adjacent teeth. - gary Absolute correct! I second your opinion. The emergence profile and the remaining bone diameter are the issues.- Liviu Brilliant minds think alike Liviu! J must be the german genes - Gary I was referring to Liviu's case. Your case is a very tight fit.- DanS Let me try this again. Liviu, I thought you could have fit a wider implant in your case, so I was wondering why you chose a 3mm implant.- DanS Dan, Gary and myself tryed to explain you the logic behind: According to: Salama, H., Salama, M.A., Garber, D.A., and Adar, P. (1998). The distance Tooth-Implant should be 1.5mm. The total available place between the teeth was 5 mm. Using a 3mm implant I was still successfully in maintaining about 1mm distance tooth implant. This distance is important for: 1. Prosthetic emergence profile. 2. Interproximal bone preservation. 3. Optimal gingival esthetic profiles. Hope I was now more successfully in explaining the rational.- Liviu Liviu, Sorry, looked like a much larger space to me. That is the disadvantage of commenting on a case you did not see. With only five mm you have to go with 3mm implant.- DanS
