Subject: [roots] Lost the tooth but didn't lose the lesson
I'm not a staunch 2 visit guy, but I do recognize the value of the second visit in certain situations.
(I like to think I use the Avillion "force" in making these determinations. :-) )
99% of the time I'm doing a second visit when there is a sinus tract just to verify things are healing
before sending the pt back for restorative. In this case, the sinus tract didn't resolve, and amazingly
the crack I searched for diligently at visit one and couldn't find was now quite visible after a month of
caoh. I sent the pt off for extraction.
Getting into that deep split was kind of a lucky thing. I suspect I leave more of these than I find.
Lower incisors and bicuspids, and upper second bicuspids are the toughest teeth to endodontically treat
that nobody talks about due to these middle/apical third branchings. - Mark
